Glinda Deblois, 22 November 2020

I understand why this hospital is considered the best in Thailand. Traveled all the way from Australia to get my treatment here after I heard good things about it. Superb staff, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Many of the staff can speak English, so communication is not a problem. I asked many questions and told them my concerns, and they answered patiently and put me at ease. Had to stay for several days after my treatment. The room was super clean, well-designed, and definitely made me feel comfortable. The nurses checked on me every hour or so, and the food was surprisingly great. Though having to stay in a hospital is never a good experience, I would say my time in Bumrungrad was a pleasant one. A bit pricey when compared to other hospitals around the area, but with the quality service and high-level care offered, it was all worth it.

What you need to know about Stomach Cancer Surgery in Thailand

Stomach cancer surgery in Thailand is becoming increasingly popular among international medical tourists. It is estimated that in 2020, 13,000 patients traveled abroad to receive medical treatment, mostly for oncologic treatment. The reason that Thailand is becoming a leading choice among foreigners is due to its renowned medical technology, cost savings, and convenience. When considering stomach cancer surgery in Thailand, potential medical tourists need to be aware that the country offers the most up-to-date, proficient and cutting-edge treatments. Thailand is one of the few countries in the world that has complete access to advanced imaging methods such as PET scans, endoscopies and surgeries for gastric cancer. Highly skilled and experienced surgeons offer a variety of treatments to meet the individual’s needs, including chemotherapy, radiation as well as various minimally invasive procedures. The cost savings, when compared to Western countries, are significant and often the same, if not better, quality of care is administered in Thailand. The competitive costs of surgeries, tests, medications and consultations are the main attraction for medical tourists; the affordability of these treatments allows those who require specialist treatments to gain access to quality care. In addition to the cost saving benefits and advanced treatments, patients trust that the staff is knowledgeable and experienced in performing surgeries and providing post-surgery care and support. The majority of medical staff speaks English, which is also appealing to medical tourists, as well as the convenience of being able to be admitted directly to hospital and receive treatment without waiting in line. When it comes to making a decision on stomach cancer surgery, medical tourists should do their research, assessing the credentials and accreditations of the doctors and hospital, as well as asking questions to get a better understanding of their options.
