I am so happy with the care and support that I received from all of the staff at Oasis of Hope. From the first day I made the decision to have my surgery to even now, the doctors and staff have taken great care to ensure my health and safety. I sincerely wish I knew the names of each and every one of the nurses, doctors, and staff that cared for me so I could personally thank them. I found communicating with the staff very easy, as most of them are fluent in English. I never had an issue with not being understood by staff, even the ones that were not fluent in English. Dr. Gonzales explained the procedure and asked if I had any questions. He really took the time to make sure I had a full understanding of what was being done. The hospital rooms are simple and unadorned with more than enough space to provide a comfortable stay. The shower has lots of hot water and fresh towels. Also, the room had a Lennox wall air conditioner that kept my room very comfortable. As for the hospital itself, it exudes an air of calm and peace. The only people that bustled about were the cleaning staff that cleaned everything in sight. Very Clean!! I walked around the day before my surgery and peeked into rooms with open doors. I found very modern-looking and new equipment. Nothing looked old or outdated. After my surgery, I always knew which doctor was in charge of my care and they can in the room to check on me. There was a doctor available to me 24/7 while I was at Oasis of Hope. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and can't wait to return for my body contouring surgery in a year!!

Travelled through the Cronoavirus to get the gastric sleeve. Not only did they go above and beyond to be safe and clean from the covid 19 but its truly a well kept diamond in the rough. Super super clean, very caring, extremely pleasant surgery stay. Absolutely no complications from the sleeve and myself and mother where treated like royalties. Im definitely going back for skin removal. I would trust them with my whole life over and over before I returned to my Florida Doctor who is less clean and less kind. PLEASE DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR OF CONTACTING HOSPITAL JERUSALEM AND I PROMISE AS A PATIENT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Sleeved 7-13-2020 and already down 25 pounds and never felt any pain or sickness.💖💖💖💖

A group of weight-loss surgeries in which changes are made to the digestive system, some of which are non-reversible. The idea behind these types of surgeries is to help the patient lose weight by limiting the amount of food they can consume/digest at any one time. Bariatric surgeries should only ever be the final option when diet and exercise have proved inadequate and there are now serious health concerns caused by a person's weight.

The three most common types of Bariatric Surgeries are as follows:

1. Gastric Sleeve - The most common surgery, in which the stomach is irreversibly reduced to about 15% of its original capacity by surgically removing a large portion of it, resulting in a sleeve or tube-like structure.

2. Gastric Bypass - A more complicated procedure in which the stomach is divided into two parts; a small upper pouch and a large lower ‘remnant’ pouch. The small intestine is rearranged accordingly, bypassing the large pouch and thus significantly reducing the volume of the stomach.

3. Gastric Band - An inflatable silicone device is fitted around the top portion of the stomach to create a smaller stomach pouch. The device can be removed when the patient reaches their desired weight.

Alternatively, there is a non-surgical Bariatric procedure, known as the Gastric Balloon. This involves an inflatable device being temporarily inserted into the stomach via endoscopic placement. The balloon or balloons obstruct a sizable area of the stomach, thus reducing the amount of food it can contain at any one time and thus leading to eventual weight loss. The balloons are usually removed after 6 or 12 months.
