About Germany

Germany is the largest country in Central Europe as well as the world’s fourth-largest economy by GDP. As a highly developed country, they are known to have the best healthcare system in Europe. Although treatment prices are considerably higher compared to neighboring countries such as Hungary and Poland, medical tourists usually come to the city for quality rather than the price. The medical centers in Germany rely more on local accreditation organizations, such as the German Institute for Standardization, TEMOS, and the Cooperation for Quality and Transparency in Healthcare (KTQ-GmBH). However, there are two JCI accredited medical facilities in the country. The country offers a wide range of medical procedures, with Paraneoplastic treatments as the most sought-after procedures.

Popular Cities and Regions

Germany is full of history and advanced technology. Berlin, the country’s capital city, offers diverse sights to see. Tourists are welcome to visit the glass dome of The Reichstag, walk around the Brandenburg Gate, or wander around Museumsinsel (Museum Island). Another popular destination for medical tourists is Munich. The city offers historical tours, such as the Church of St. Peter, which is the city’s oldest parish church dating back six centuries. The BMW museum is also a must-visit, especially for car enthusiasts. For anyone looking for refreshing sea air, Hamburg is a nice place to visit as the city is mainly surrounded by water. Tourists can stroll around the harbor or sail on the Outer Alster Lake.

Transport

The largest airport in Germany is Frankfurt Airport. It serves international and domestic flights. Budget airlines such as Ryanair and Euro Wings operates flights from this airport and can be a great option for tourists who wish to travel around Germany inexpensively. The country boasts some of the best public transportation in the world. The public transportation is integrated with one ticket, which allows tourists to access buses, trams, U-Bahn trains, and S-Bahn trains. Taxis are also available but they tend to be expensive.

Visas

As a member of the European Union, Germany allows other citizens of the EU to enter without a visa. Citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, Japan, Poland, the US, and Switzerland are also granted visa-free entry for up to 90 days. Citizens of other countries need to obtain a Schengen Visa to enter the country.

Weather

Summer starts in June and ends in August with an average temperature of around 24°C. Summer is the most popular time to visit since people can enjoy numerous outdoor activities. From September to October is autumn and the temperature is almost as pleasant as summer. Winter starts in December, and the weather can be cold. Spring comes around March and temperatures warm up rapidly.
