My family and I have been patients at N1 City hospital since 1997 til date. It is sad to say that the service at N1 hospital has deteriorated over the past 4 years. When visiting trauma I feel like I'm visiting a government hospital. My husband was diagnosed with cancer December 2019 and over the past 4 months he spent more time in hospital than at home. Nursing care is just not what it used to be, he must wait for pain meds when in excruciating pain, the communication to him w.r.t. procedures is poor. With Covid 19 we understand that visitation is not allowed, but then I want to have the peace of mind that my husband is in good hands. I can drop off his needs and he will receive it, but why must I wait for 43 minutes at the entrance for his washing? When I phone the ward saying I can't get hold of him on his cell phone, is everything okay, I must get a reply what do I expect them to do....what the hell, really??There are good nurses still and I salute them for what they do especially during these times, but the management must start looking at their agency staff they get in, cause that's all I can think, it's the agency staff that's not trained properly...they must remember the oath they took. The staff in Ward A (PUI), wonderful service, thank you.The oncology department...i have no words to say thank you for your kindness and ongoing support and professionalism. The nursing staff issues must be addressed, the bad apples is causing N1 City hosp to lose patients. From the se
Overall I had a good experience.
This is clearly a public hospital masquerading as a private hospital. Extremely disappointed with my stay. Staff administers meds in wards after midnight and still has an atittude when questioned about it. They have no compassion for the elderly and don't aid them when they wearing red bands. Clearly they refuse to make it their responsibility. Place is not sterilized regularly and you have to ask for beds and sheets to be cleaned daily. Toilets and shower are clogged up and they still haven't fixed it when I was discharged. I really hope they move up their standards but in my experience it's not worth paying medical aid and receiving this type of care.
The hospital is great. Staff is very friendly. ER just isn't very impressive. Process is very slow. Not very impressed
Visited the ER on the 17/12 at just before 4pm.after I injured my foot.only saw Dr at just after 6pm.(triaged orange mind I say) was in terrible pain.was walked past numerous times.eventually we decided we will leave and rather go to a non DSP(designated service provider)and encounter extra cost than have to deal with that treatment.when my husband complained to the extremely helpful receptionist.DR came to see us in less than 5minutes.Dr arrived, extremely unprofessional, talked so fast, interrupted me when speaking and 'consult' lasted all but 3minutes..was booked for xray, while waiting for x-ray etc.had to listen to sisters/nurses talk about their new job offers.sweets, gym, home etc, no professionalism at all, I could hear all about the other patients in the rooms conditions etc.no privacy when speaking to patients etc.eventullg after xray etc,i was told I can get up.this is my papers etc.sonar booked tomorrow, while shouting to the other nurse that she is trying to clear out the work( work being me in the bed-as it was nearing handover time)i was mocked while she showed me how to use the crutches.pulling faces to the other staff and all laughed. I really had a bad experience here, I'm not saying everyone will too.but I'm definitely done with n1 city netcare and will be taking this further.regards
This hospital is disappointing been waiting for 2.5 hours and havent received help staff is laughing and having a good time, while people are piling up in the E.R. On the plus side hospital is clean and staff are friendly, they need to improve their E.R system as its not efficient.
Private hospital with staff who behave like public hospital staff. The below is based on two different stays - they do their best to ignore patients, at times with blatent intent- they are intentionally slow, trying to punish thier clients- the hospital is dirty, the wards are dirty, the corridor's are dirty and the toilets are dirty. Management need to get a clue
Thank you for helping me so nicely and so quickly with allergic reaction.
Not fond of this Hospital. You sit in their waiting area for no less than an hour, for ANY emergency. Friday I had no choice. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and my 5yr old and nephew 7, were hurt. My parents took them to N1 netcare hospital. My nephew had blood in his mouth and was assisted after having waited. My 5yr old was assisted over an hour later AFTER i arrived from the accident scene, and had been complaining of a sore shoulder. Only to find ir was broken (clavicle bone) but just because there was no blood, she had to wait for non EMERGENCY ADULTS to be booked in. I had to make a scene asking WHY A 5YR OLD WHO WAS INVOLVED IN A MVA had not been assisted IMMEDIATELY and they spoke of paperwork which could have been done as my parents had everything NEEDED BUT THEY TOLD THEM TO WAIT. What constitutes an emergency at N1 city hospital - nothing. Pathetic excuse of a HOSPITAL. I'D avoid ever being sent there. The trauma staff are friendly and nice which is useless if they do not understand HOW to react to emergencies.
They are always so helpful all times I've been there and especially with my kids.
Today waited for 3 hours to be assisted at emergency unit... With a toddler bad service not going there again definitely
I had an excellent experience on my admission . everyone from cleaning staff to the doctors that attented to me and the nurses that have extrem patients and understanding towards the most difficult patients from my observation. im just dissappointed that we were unable to use this hospital for both my daughters birth because the gynegologist have ridiculously high copayments ,we were forced to use melomed gatesvill which was the worst hospital experience they act as though they are doing you a favour ,but in anycase i do hope that specialised doctors at n1 city all start thinking like dr mothilal and remove co payments and make it about the patients come first then money...i appreciate everything done by dr mothilal ,the people he refered me to and all the nurses that were around me .thank you .o yes the food was also like a 5 star hotel. I'm changing the ratings to 0 because few weeks later I receive a bill for a co payment from the hospital not even a doctor... I was not informed prior to admission about it as I would have never agreed to something I couldn't afford. ..I will wait for Monday to contact there account department and hand this to legal Wise ..Even on admission I read everything and looking for that one about Co payments, I only signed that hospital is not responsible for personal belongings
What an amazing team at N1 City! After a recent cancer diagnosis, I'd been pushed around from pillar to post by my medical aid, who were so unhelpful. However, the team from Admissions (Maxwell Frans) with his amazing support and dogged determination and endless calls to all and sundry, to the ladies at Bergman, Ross & Partners and Oncology who were so kind, supportive and encouraging, to the Oncologist, Dr Sauer, who was beyond brilliant and went far above and beyond the call of duty. I am forever grateful for your compassion, kindness and assistance today. Without your combined acts of kindess, and "chain of angels", the prognosis would have been so much harder to bear. Because of YOU all, I will remain positive, and I thank you with sincerest gratitude.Belinda
Went into the ER on Monday and Thursday. The nurses were friendly and attentive. Beside that, the doctors weren’t clear about my condition and making a diagnosis. After moving to a separate hospital, the doctor there told me what was CLEARLY wrong from my first blood test and gave me the only medication which could have helped, which helped drastically and that I didn’t need to be admitted. Furthermore, they weren’t clear about their medical aid specifications and opened a folder despite knowing that the medical aid didn’t cover their hospital and we would need to pay private fees.
I am shocked at the state of the reception chairs tatty and Iike a state hospital the chairs in the waiting room outside ICU shocking also dirty and tatty I lifted the cushions to find chips sweet papers etc I am really very disappointed. Ladies toilet floor dirty and bins never emptied. All In all a disgrace when you think u paying an.arm and a leg Water dispenser empty and no cups reception says waiting for cups none in stock. Machine out of order for a week with cold drinks in front of hospital. You need to upgrade as you lagging behind big time.
Professional, nursing and support staff excellent. Facilities modern clean and patient friendly.
Poor services . My husband was in high care and had unbearable pain throughout the night without any of the staff attending to him after ringing the bell. His drip was not replaced with another until my mother in law had to advise them, another patient who has only half his brain operating and has undergone brain surgery was shouting and disturbing other patients who shares the same room as him was not Isolated from everyone else . These are patients who have undergone major surgery and has been in tremendous amount of pain. You pay so much for medical aid to ensure that should anything happen you are well taken care of, but these staff has portrayed terrible service.
I WA allowed Monday morning Very friendly don't wait long I was promptly admitted and in hall 1c bath 4 where I received Very friendly was the most professional stuff the anesthetist and Dr Bason and everyone who made a knife so welcome make you feel scary Continue like that of Louwrens Stapelberg
I've always been helped extremely quick here and it's Clean. Smells good. Inexpensive as well
I received a wonderful service from Netcare n1 city on the 20th may 2019. Thanks to doctor Bouma and the nurses who were working with her.
Great Staff. Ergonomical. Best Specialized Physicians in multiple disciplines. Easy accessable. High success rate.
Business hours shown is incorrect. They definitely not open at 7:30.
Friendly and helpful staff willing to go the extra mile
Incredibly nice doctors, nurses and just good service overall. The one thing that made this a 4-star hospital for me was the free Wi-Fi which didn't work with everything, I woke up in the morning at 5 and by 10 I had used all of it, I mean couldn't they at least give the patients uncapped? Also, the page where you register for free WiFi, is filled with ads witch could have payed for the WiFi. One the nurses offered me her coloring book to keep me busy. The food was also very good and I enjoyed being able to choose what i want to eat. My stay at this hospital was my favourite so far, after my birth.
They did not have a specialist for dental operations, I need emergency assistance especially after a robbery. That left you with nothing but broken teeth.
N1 City staff, doctors, nurses, tea ladies are phenomenal! The best quality care in a caring, friendly and professional environment. The best hospital in the Western Cape.
The staff here is very friendly.
From first glance this hospital looks very nice. The people were professional and it felt like they knew what they were doing. I was not the patient but I have to say they really care about their patients and look after them. My only problem was that they aren't that friendly to the people who aren't the patient. I just feel your professionalism and friendliness shouldn't be limited to just the patients.
Good dokters and nurses. To many people in one room. Have to walk very far to get fresh air. Food is good.
We used then when my daughter was very sick. They struggled to get blood but finally managed. Very glad they could help her.Only issue was the billing was late and they couldn't help me when I wanted to pay.
This place never attended to people, we waited for 3 hours with no help. We ended up leaving feeling neglected such a disappointing service, it is not a busy place for patients to wait for such longer periods in pain.
Top Private Hospital. Getting old, but care is tops. Recommend to anyone needing medical assistance from birth to serious surgery.Been there more than 5 times and still feel the warmth of the staff.
Terrible service. Zero customer care at emergency rooms!
Professionals. Friendly. Caring
The hospital are not honest with you beforehand and then you receive big accounts that needs to be paid. This was my last visit to N1
My mom is in the hospital as I am writing this. She complains that since she was admitted more than 2 days ago the staff only bathed her once. She is 81years old. She is not confused!!!! Very alert.
