With the developing technology, it is possible to close the gaps between the teeth or to add a new design to the teeth by correcting their alignment.

Now with the developing technology; we can create an idea about this treatment in advance by evaluating the photos taken by our patients on their phones from. Our patients can even do this by themselves using different programs. So; they may form an idea of their new smiles.

Porcelain Veneers

When it is decided to have a porcelain veneers, photos of the teeth and face are taken first. Because teeth are there for smile, that is, teeth should be evaluated with facial integrity. Sometimes small touches on the teeth make a big difference, sometimes when a bigger smile is needed, it is necessary to deal with a lot of process. This is completely decided by seeing the face with the MOCK UP we will provide to our patients.

Stages

In order to plan the smile design, the person’s wishes are determined first. These wishes are understood through a series of relevant surveys. In this survey, the elements that the person does not like in her/his teeth are determined one by one and at the same time, it is revealed with the questions asked what kind of smile she/he wishes to achieve. In addition, we try to understand the requests of our patients with the cases we have achieved before in our clinic.

It is very important for us to look at the before and after of the treatments we have performed in the past, and to understand the wishes of our patients in the meantime, with the desire that each treatment should be customizable. For this reason, our first examination takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, because the positions and health of the teeth are evaluated individually by both x-rays and special 3D scanners. As a result of this evaluation, when the requests are understood, we would like to show our patients a three-dimensional view of these requests.

Pre-Proofing Mock-Up

It is the presentation of three-dimensional image of the dentist’s mind and the patient’s mind. In the meantime, our patient has the chance to see her/his new image on her/his face, take pictures and even spend a day with those teeth. In our clinic, we know that our patients have different temperaments in the decision-making process. Therefore, we also allow a decision-making process specific to each temperament. Some people feel the need to show their teeth to their entourage and get ideas, so MOCK UP is a method that allows them to spend a day with their teeth to meet their needs. After the decision-making stage has been achieved, we can go into to the measurement stage.

Measurement

Sometimes a preparation is made on the tooth without even anesthesia. With today’s developing technologies, porcelain laminate size can be taken without cutting the teeth. Digital measurement methods and manual measurement methods are used.

Making Temporary Veneers

After the measurement is taken, we definitely prepare composite temporaries for our patient. These composite temporaries give our patients an idea about their new teeth. This is a very important stage, because the process spent with this tooth for approximately a week, that is, until new teeth are made, both shapes the lip support and adapts our patient to the new tooth appearance.

Technician’s Production of Porcelain Veneers

The technique and handcraft of the technician to be used in the production of porcelain laminates differ. There are many brands and techniques of porcelain laminate. The photos and mock up taken beforehand according to the result to be obtained here guide the technician in this sense. When we only work on the upper teeth, the photos to be taken from the lower teeth can be a guide for the patient’s new tooth image.

Transparency, style, shape are transferred to the technician one by one according to the new smile design. For this, videos are recorded from time to time, images obtained with photographs and scanners, the structure of the new tooth to be made, its appearance, the requests and expectations are explained to the technician one by one, and the technician produces porcelain veneers by choosing the color and material accordingly. Usually the production period takes five days.

Rehearsal

Before the top surfaces of porcelain veneers are polished, they are rehearsed. After the temporary lamina is removed, porcelain veneers are placed in the mouth via adhesives that can keep the teeth in the mouth. After this placement, the small micro-adaptations of the teeth are performed by the dentist because porcelain veneers are designed personally and during the rehearsal, our patient gets the last chance to see the adaptation to the face, color and shape of the teeth from all directions. This appointment period is usually 1-1.5 hours. Our patients may come to this appointment with a companion whose aesthetic point of view they trust.

Bonding of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers, which have a translucent appearance, are very fragile and delicate. Therefore, the bonding session takes approximately 1 – 1.5 hours.

During the bonding, the interior of the porcelain veneers is subjected to a series of preparations. Likewise, tooth surfaces are disinfected with special disinfectants. The purpose here is to adhere the porcelain veneers to the tooth in an extremely clear and solid way. Once ideally adhered, the porcelain veneers cannot be easily removed from there. Therefore, the bonding session requires a lot of attention and care.

After the bonding is performed one by one, the adhesive residues are carefully cleaned, the teeth are prepared for the interface cleaning, and when the bonding session is over, the porcelain veneers are completely adapted to the teeth. In order to give our patient a longer usage time, a night guard measurement is taken immediately after.

What Should Our Patients Pay Attention To After Porcelain Veneers Are Bonded?

• It is necessary not to consume tea, coffee, cola and cigarettes for 24 hours from the day of bonding, because such substances paint the adhesive during the full adaptation of the adhesive.
• Even if the bite is controlled, care should be taken not to bite until the next check.
• Adhesive residues between the teeth may fall into the mouth as small splinters. In this case, our patients should not panic.
• Brushing from the gingiva to the tooth should begin with care from the first moment.
• Night Guard should be used immediately.

How Can I Use My Porcelain Veneers For A Long Time?

It is very important not to neglect check appointments for all restorations. For sure, as in all treatments, regular oral care increases the life of the restoration. Regular use of night guard, taking care when biting, especially not to bite very hard things by pulling are necessary for long-lasting use of porcelain veneers. We should never break hard-shell things using our front teeth. Apart from that, we can eat food such as soft toast bread by biting.
