King’s College Hospital, situated in south London, is one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals in the country. The Trust has nearly 900 beds, over 7,000 staff and treats one million patients every year.

King’s is a leading centre internationally for fetal medicine. The Harris Birthright Centre is a leading clinical unit and research centre for the assessment and treatment of unborn babies, caring for than 10,000 patients each year.
King’s is one of four Major Trauma Centres in London, and the home of the award-winning Channel 4 documentary series 24 Hours in A&E, which focuses on the work of staff based in our Trauma and Emergency Department.
It is one of London’s eight Hyper Acute Stroke Units, which means it treats patients from across London presenting with life-threatening injuries and conditions. The Royal College of Physicians rated King’s as the top stroke centre in the country this year. King’s is also a regional centre for heart and brain surgery.
