The dermatologist, Dr Ayanda M. Is the greatest to ever happen to my son , who has been struggling with extreme ezcema from a young age and now a young adult. She has not only cleared the bad skin away but has kept it well under control. Humbled by her genuine care, warmth and professionalism. We travel a few kilometers for your services. Thank you

What you need to know about All-on-6 in South Africa

    All-on-6 Procedure

All-On-6 is used to replace the entire upper or lower set of teeth. It is a permanent solution for people who have lost a significant number of teeth and want to regain their perfect smile. The term “All On” refers to the fact that all of the prosthetic teeth are supported or anchored by 6 strategically placed implants.

What does a All-on-6 Procedure Involve?

During the procedure, you will be given general anesthetic. Your dentist will perform a thorough examination as well as scanning and taking X-rays to assess the anatomical structures of your mouth, then impressions will be made to create the teeth. After that, your dentist will place six implants in the upper or lower jawbone to permanently anchor the prosthetic teeth in place.

How Long Should I Stay in South Africa for a All-on-6 Procedure?

Some clinics offer a same-day procedure, meaning the procedure can be done in a day. However, some dental clinics require two appointments, usually with an interval of two weeks. If you undergo a same-day procedure, you need to stay in South Africa for around a week. But if you have multiple appointment procedures, you may need to stay longer.

MyMediTravel currently lists 6 facilities in South Africa offering All-on-6 procedures - see above for the complete list, along with estimated prices. The price of a All-on-6 can vary according to each individual’s case and will be determined based on your medical profile and an in-person assessment with the specialist. How Long is the Recovery Time?

If your job is not physically demanding, you should be able to return to work within 4 days of the surgery. However, the total recovery time may take around six to eight weeks.

What sort of Aftercare is Required for All-on-6 Procedures in South Africa?

For the first few days following the surgery, make sure to rest as much as possible. Avoid any strenuous activities, such as exercises and lifting heavy objects, and watch your diet. Practicing healthy oral hygiene, including brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing, and using antibacterial mouthwash daily, is very important.

What's the Success Rate of All-on-6 Procedures in South Africa?

All-On-6 has a success rate of more than 95%. Although quite rare, there are some risks and side effects to the procedure, including persistent bleeding, swelling, nausea, discoloration, dry lips, sore throat, sharp sensations in your mouth, dental implants that do not integrate with the bone, stiff muscles, and failed implants.

Are there Alternatives to All-on-6 Procedures in South Africa?

All-On-6 is not for everyone. Therefore, if you are not an ideal candidate for this procedure, you can have traditional dentures instead. Other All-On procedures, including All-On-2, All-On-4, and All-On-8, can also be alternatives.

What Should You Expect Before and After the Procedure

After All-On-6 you can have an incredibly beautiful set of teeth that will last a long time. Also, the implants will fuse to the jawbones and mimic your natural roots, which give you a natural smile that you may not have had before the procedure. Since the implant feels very natural, you will not even remember that the implants are even there.
