Come to use the service regularly. Service is very good. The diabetes department may have to wait for a very long time. There are few doctors and many patients. It's generally considered good.

The doctor and all the other staff are very thorough and compassionate. I came here for an angiogram, and I was somewhat scared at the thought of getting it, but the doctor and staff were absolutely fantastic. I ended up having a stent, and the whole team made it bearable. Thank you to all the staff who really went over and above for me. I feel so lucky to have chosen Thonburi hospital for my treatment.

I understand why this hospital is considered the best in Thailand. Traveled all the way from Australia to get my treatment here after I heard good things about it. Superb staff, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Many of the staff can speak English, so communication is not a problem. I asked many questions and told them my concerns, and they answered patiently and put me at ease. Had to stay for several days after my treatment. The room was super clean, well-designed, and definitely made me feel comfortable. The nurses checked on me every hour or so, and the food was surprisingly great. Though having to stay in a hospital is never a good experience, I would say my time in Bumrungrad was a pleasant one. A bit pricey when compared to other hospitals around the area, but with the quality service and high-level care offered, it was all worth it.

The price is a bit expensive, but the service was incredible so I don't mind. I had a hip replacement, and the surgeon was very professional and knowledgeable. Felt scared at first, but since the surgeon was very reassuring, the whole experience became stress-free. The staff were very friendly, efficient, and courteous. Everyone was very encouraging as well, helping me to recover faster. Also, the food was very good. 😄 The hospital was clean and tidy. Everything was modern. I really wish my local hospitals were this impressive.

What you need to know about Hip Fracture Surgery in Thailand

    Hip Fracture Repair

A Hip Fracture is a serious injury and its complications can be life-threatening. There are three main types of hip fracture surgery, including internal repair using screws, partial hip replacement, and total hip replacement. The type of surgery you need depends on the severity and location of the fracture as well as your age and underlying health conditions.

    What Does the Procedure Involve?

If you undergo internal repair using screws, your surgeon inserts metal screws into the bone to hold it together while the fracture heals. With a total hip replacement, your surgeon replaces the upper femur and the socket in your pelvis with prostheses, while with a partial hip replacement, your surgeon only replaces the head and neck of the femur with a metal prosthesis. All of these types of hip fracture surgery are performed under general or spinal anesthetic.

How Long Should I Stay in Thailand for a Hip Fracture Surgery Procedure?

You may need to stay in the hospital for four to eight days after the surgery. Therefore, you generally should plan to stay in Thailand for around 10 to 14 days or until your surgeon says it is okay for you to travel home as sitting too long can be uncomfortable for you.

How Long is the Recovery Time?

The recovery period depends on which type of hip fracture surgery you underwent. In general, you may be able to return to some light activities within three to six weeks. You should be able to do most of your regular activities, such as taking long walks and exercising, within ten to twelve weeks. However, the total recovery period may take as long as six to twelve months.

MyMediTravel currently lists facilities in Thailand offering Hip Fracture Surgery procedures - see above for the complete list, along with estimated prices. The price of a Hip Fracture Surgery can vary according to each individual’s case and will be determined based on your medical profile and an in-person assessment with the specialist. What sort of Aftercare is Required for Hip Fracture Surgery Procedures in Thailand?

There will be a set of post-operative aftercare instructions from your surgeon that include dietary restriction, wound care, and exercises. Your surgeon will recommend you to undergo physical therapy after the procedure, which focuses on your range-of-motion and strengthening exercises. You may also need to attend follow-up hospital checkups with your surgeon or your local doctor.

What's the Success Rate of Hip Fracture Surgery Procedures in Thailand?

The success rate of hip fracture surgery is around 90% to 95% after 10 years. This procedure is very effective, but there are some side effects and risks that come with it, such as infection, blood clots, dislocation, and loosening.

Are there Alternatives to Hip Fracture Surgery Procedures in Thailand?

If you are not the ideal candidate for hip fracture surgery, you can undergo conservative treatment, including taking medications such as bisphosphonates via intravenous (IV) tubing in the hospital. However, this is only recommended for people who are too frail to cope with surgery.

What Should You Expect Before and After the Procedure

Before a hip fracture surgery, you may experience pain, bruising, and swelling and your movement may be very limited. After the surgery, all of the symptoms will no longer be there and you can move freely.
