I understand why this hospital is considered the best in Thailand. Traveled all the way from Australia to get my treatment here after I heard good things about it. Superb staff, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Many of the staff can speak English, so communication is not a problem. I asked many questions and told them my concerns, and they answered patiently and put me at ease. Had to stay for several days after my treatment. The room was super clean, well-designed, and definitely made me feel comfortable. The nurses checked on me every hour or so, and the food was surprisingly great. Though having to stay in a hospital is never a good experience, I would say my time in Bumrungrad was a pleasant one. A bit pricey when compared to other hospitals around the area, but with the quality service and high-level care offered, it was all worth it.

What you need to know about SLAP Tear Repair in Thailand

Getting treatment in Thailand is becoming increasingly popular, with many people traveling from far and wide to take advantage of the high-quality medical care and competitive prices. SLAP tear repair is a procedure offered in Thailand, which aims to repair a tear in the shoulder’s rotator cuff. When you seek medical help for a SLAP tear, it is important to know that the procedure involves a range of steps, including a medical assessment, keyhole surgery, and post-surgery rehabilitation. Although the whole process might feel daunting, you can rest assured that you can trust the hand-picked medical personnel in Thailand who have years of expertise. The assessment will take precedence when preparing for the treatment – this will help the professionals to develop a tailored course of treatment that is right for you. During the assessment, you will possibly undergo scans and imaging, and the professionals will be able to verify the positive diagnosis, with some precision. The keyhole operation represents a significantly minimally invasive procedure, with a scope and camera being used to operation. You can save up to $10,000 on the procedure compared to the prices at home, and although it is affordable and safe, the medical experts in Thailand understand that the patient’s safety and health will come first, at all times. After the procedure, it is just as important to follow the post-surgery rehabilitation and exercise as prescribed by the medical expert. This will give the rotator cuff the greatest chance of healing and reduce the risk of any further damage. Efficient diagnosis, a safe and minimally invasive keyhole operation, and a recovery plan that is specifically designed for each patient means that SLAP tear repair in Thailand is a supportive, affordable and safe option for a SLAP tear recovery. There is no need to delay this medical procedure - those medical personnel in Thailand are equipped and compassionate to provide an incomparable level of care.

With the latest medical technology and using state-of-the-art techniques, the patient can expect the shoulder to return to full strength and complete pain relief. Depending on the severity of the injury, one treatment session is likely to be sufficient and cure can be achieved within four to six weeks after the procedure (which typically costs around 13,000-23,000 Thai Baht or approx. $420-$750 USD.)

How long does a SLAP tear repair in Thailand take?

In Thailand, a SLAP tear repair can take as little as 6 weeks but may take up to 6 months for the tear to completely heal, depending on the severity of the injury and the person's response to the treatment. Following successful surgery, a rehabilitation program may be recommended to ensure optimal recovery. On average, the cost of the treatment and rehabilitation can range from 10,000 to 20,000 Thai Baht (approximately 300 to 600 USD). With a comprehensive treatment plan, the patient should be able to return to their normal activities within 3 months after surgery.

What is the cost of SLAP tear repair in Thailand?

The cost of a SLAP tear repair in Thailand is relatively affordable and estimated to be from THB 60,000 to THB 100,000 (approx. USD 1,900 - 3,100). Surgery fee may vary from hospital depending on the complexity, size of tear and scope of procedure. Most medical centers offer very competitive, yet high quality and safe services. In all cases, ensure to develop a proper treatment plan with your medical team for the most accurate estimate of cost, based on your individual medical needs.

Are there any risks associated with SLAP tear repair in Thailand?

Yes, SLAP tear repair surgery in Thailand may pose certain inherent risks. Similar to any major surgical procedure, there is a risk of infection, post-operative swelling, and nerve damage. However, Thai medical centers utilise the latest in surgical technology, and the experienced board-certified surgeons conducting the procedures maintain the highest standards of patient safety and quality care. The cost of SLAP repair surgery in Thailand is approximately €1,500 to €2,500 (approx. $1,800-$2,935 USD), allowing patients to access quality medical treatments at more affordable rates.

What kind of aftercare is needed after SLAP tear repair in Thailand?

After SLAP tear repair in Thailand, it is essential that appropriate aftercare is undertaken to ensure optimum results. It is crucial to return to the hospital for regular postoperative check-ups and to attend any physiotherapy sessions recommended. During the physiotherapy sessions, it is important to perform exercises to continue to strengthen the shoulder and to follow the medical advice provided. Patients should also avoid any activities that may risk further damage to the shoulder. As a way of managing pain, anti-inflammatory medications may be prescribed (1,000 THB [$30 USD] per day). For any prosthetic materials used, patients should be aware that further surgical intervention may be required in the future (up to 2000 THB [$60 USD] per follow-up visit). Taking these steps will help ensure excellent long-term outcomes for the surgery.
