The European Eye Center is a private ophthalmology clinic in HCMC, Vietnam, where Dr.JD Ferwerda, a dutch ophthalmologist and our team offers top quality, western standard eye care, in an environment where the patient comes first.
Dr. JD, is educated in Belgium and The Netherlands and has over 20 years of experience (before coming to Vietnam) in general ophthalmology and vision screening, cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma treatment, and retina surgery, using the latest techniques and equipment from Germany, Switzerland, Japan and the USA. He speaks six languages. Dr. JD has completed a full fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery in The Netherlands and is regarded as a top cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon in the world. At the European Eye Center, we offer the best care at a very competitive price. We have treated many patients from Vietnam and abroad, from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and other South-East Asia countries.
For cataract surgery, we have the newest IOL (intra-ocular lens) measuring equipment on the market, which allows us to calculate in the most accurate way, in which an intraocular lens is needed for the best possible vision. The IOL (intra-ocular lens) can be a basic monofocal lens to a premium multifocal lens (Carl Zeiss Germany), or everything in between.

Dr.JD is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon and has been performing surgeries for retinal detachments or diabetic retinopathy for more than 20 years. If you have a serious eye condition or have been in an accident with ocular trauma, you only want the best!
In Vietnam Dr.JD also works on a social project to reduce ROP (retinopathy of prematurity) and is 1 of a few ophthalmologists in the world to perform the necessary surgeries on babies under 4 kg (8.8 pounds) to prevent infant blindness.
In the European Eye Center, we supply contact lenses (Bausch&Lomb, Seed, Cooper Vision), myopia treatment with eye drops, and in the near future, we will also sell quality eyewear.
