What you need to know about Uterosacral Nerve Ablation in Thailand

Uterosacral nerve ablation (USNA) is a minimally-invasive, outpatient procedure that reduces the symptoms of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a painful, hormone-dependent condition that occurs when the endometrial tissue, which normally lines the uterus and is shed during menstruation, grows outside the uterus. Symptoms include heavy bleeding, pain during intercourse, and pelvic pain. The procedure works by targeting and permanently removing the areas of nerve fibers supplying the uterus via needles inserted into the lower back area and nightgown area. Once the nerve fibers are removed, the endometrial cells become inactive and the symptoms of endometriosis are greatly diminished. Though there has been no long-term scientific evidence to support the use of Uterosacral Nerve Ablation, many doctors in Thailand, who have extensive experience with the procedure, can provide patients with a satisfactory, long-term outcome. The procedure seamlessly involves the doctors using latest surgical methods, taking utmost care and also recommends safer drugs during and post the ritual. In terms of procedure costs, it is important to note that although the medical costs for the procedure can vary, prices in Thailand are generally much lower than those in other countries. The lower cost is due to the availability of the latest medical equipment, lower staffing costs, and the lower cost of living overall. Furthermore, Thailand has become a premier destination for medical tourism, offering warm weather, beautiful locations, and world-class medical facilities. There are many experienced medical staff and endometriosis specialists in the hospital setting, ensuring that the patient experience is comfortable and convenient. Overall, USNA is an ideal option for endometriosis patients who are seeking an effective, long-term solution to their condition. In Thailand, Uterosacral Nerve Ablation procedures are available which provide excellent value, comfort and convenience for the patient.

What is Uterosacral Nerve Ablation (USNA) and how does it work?

Uterosacral Nerve Ablation (USNA) is an endoscopic procedure that targets the nerves involved in causing pain in endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions. It helps to provide pain relief and symptoms control in these conditions. During the procedure, spinal needles are placed in the sacral area in order to detect and locate the uterosacral nerves by electrical stimulation. Once located, a 50 micron radio-frequency ablation needle is used to deactivate the nerve fibres, producing pain relief and reducing pain-causing symptoms. USNA is considered to be a safe and effective procedure, suitable for women of any age group. The cost of the USNA procedure usually ranges from €1000 - €2000 (approx. USD$1200 - USD$2300), depending on the treatment required.
