What you need to know about Brazilian Butt Lift in Thailand

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants (with implants is the more traditional Butt-Lift procedure). A plastic surgeon first performs liposuction to remove fat from other areas of the body (often the stomach, hips or thighs). These fat cells are then cleansed before being injected that into the buttocks at different depths for a more natural look and feel.

MyMediTravel offers 73 Medical Centers in Thailand, a few of which offer Brazilian Butt Lift procedures - see below for the complete list, along with estimated prices. The price of a Brazilian Butt Lift can vary according to each individual’s case and will be determined based on photos and an in-person assessment with the doctor. Before and After BBL

Additional factors to consider:

1. Recovery time: Common side effects include bruising, swelling, pain, irregular contour, asymmetry, and infection. For up to two weeks after surgery, you’ll need to minimize the time you spend sitting directly on your butt during recovery. After the initial healing, you may want to sit on a special pillow, which puts the pressure on your thighs rather than your butt. You will also be asked to wear a compression garment for up to six weeks to decrease bruising and swelling, and help loose skin retract.

2. Success rate: When performed by a qualified, experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, a Brazilian butt lift has a high success rate. To be successful, a fat graft needs nutrition and so has to be injected into tissue that has a blood supply. Fat can survive if injected into other fat, but up to 90% of it can be absorbed if it is. Fat has more chance of staying in place if it is inserted into muscle – but this is where the risk lies. Injecting fat into the buttock can easily lead to serious problems if done incorrectly. These include a fat embolism, when fat enters the bloodstream and blocks a blood vessel.

3. Patient reviews often highlight the confidence boost achieved over the altered physical appearance.

How is the procedure performed?

For all Brazilian Butt Lift techniques, the three main stages are harvesting, processing, and reinjecting.

First, liposuction is performed to harvest excess body fat from areas like the back, stomach, and thighs using a cannula. The harvested fat is then processed and purified so only the best donor fat cells remain. These cells are then reinjected into the butt to improve size, shape, and contour.

The safest method involves injecting fat into the subcutaneous tissue, the area closest to the surface of your skin. Another technique injects fat into the deeper muscular plane, producing more dramatic results—at a much greater risk, especially in unskilled hands.
